Surrendering Your Struggle

August 10, 2020 Lisa Hennessy
psalm 121:1.JPG

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”—Psalm 121:1-2

Confusion is a tool the enemy uses to distract us. It happens when we try to figure things out on our own, rather than trusting God with the situation. God will give you peace or an unsettling in your heart. The latter is usually an indication that He is leading you in another direction.

I shared a few weeks ago how God has put a possible writing project in my pathway. God wants me to live in the here and now. He desires for me to do something new in my life. This is why this opportunity was brought to my attention. I have no doubt that God is going to clear the path, open my mind and reveal to me what direction to go on this new venture. God gave me peace, but I was questioning it because the creative juices weren’t flowing.

As I was listening to Lauren Daigle’s,, I Will Trust in You, a verse that resonated with me was, I confess my hands are weary, I need Your rest. I felt like God was telling me that it was okay to take a break from my writing. Satan wants me to put it on the back burner and keep it there. I was really excited about the direction it was going but after talking with my agent, realized I was going to have to rework it. This is where the enemy wants me to stop pursuing it. He wants me to be discouraged. I know God isn’t closing a door…at least not right now. He is telling me it is okay to be weary and take a break from it.

As I rely on God and communicate with Him throughout my day, I have faith He will put words and ideas in my head on what to write. The devil is trying to side-track me to doubt what God is calling me to do. Rather than trust God in the process, he wants me to question what I am doing.

God’s Word tells me in Psalm 37:5, Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.—(NLT). When I let Him lead me, I can trust that He will help me along the way. Living out Psalm 37:5 will bring victory over my mental block. When we put our efforts into His hands, we can trust the outcome.

God has blessings waiting for us, it is up to us whether or not we are going to receive them. When God has clearly opened a door for us, Satan wants us to question it and not take that leap of faith. How can you be faithful with your God given gifts? When God gives a passion for something, he doesn’t want us to sit around and not do anything with it.

Where is God calling you? Are you letting fear, anxiety or doubt be a stumbling block for you? God is with you. He loves you. He wants what is best for you. Will you step outside of your comfort zone and let Him use you this week?

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Your Word in Psalm 121. I praise You that when I lift my eyes to You, You will give me the needed wisdom and discernment. Align my heart with Yours. Help me to press on as You reveal Yourself to me. I know You have a plan for me and my job is to trust You in the midst of the unknowns. Help me surrender my struggles to You because You know what is best for me. Reveal to me what I need to do and how to do it. Help me find rest in You. I thank You that You can handle any situation or circumstance that I may be facing right now. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.

August Memory Verse

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.— Proverbs 3:5-6 (ESV) We are living in a time when things don’t make sense. Now more than ever I need to be trusting God and seeking Him for direction in everything I do.
