God is with You

“This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”—Joshua 1:9 (NLT)

Just as God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous and not be fearful or discouraged because He was with him wherever he went, the same is true for you and me.

As I knit and work on this baby blanket for my nephew and his wife’s 3rd child, I think about her pregnancy. That little life that she is carrying around inside of her is with her every where she goes. She is aware of his presence at all times. Until she gives birth there is no getting away from the baby growing inside of her. He is literally attached to her very being.

That is how it should be for us with God. For those of us that have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, are we that aware of His presence with us? Do we realize that He is with us as we sit, stand, walk, and sleep? Do you grasp that He is with you every moment of your day and every breath you take? Are you letting Him be attached to your very being in all that you do?

As I pray over this blanket and the upcoming birth of my great nephew (going to be real here…that was really hard for me to type the words “great nephew.”), I am thankful that the Lord gave me both Joshua 1:9 and Deuteronomy 31:6 to pray as I knit this week. I pray God’s blessings over this unborn child. I pray that he feels God’s presence during his life and take comfort that the Lord will never fail or abandon him.

So while my nephew’s wife, will physically be separated from her son, when she gives birth to him, there is nothing that can separate us from God. Do you believe that? As a Christian, no matter where you have been or what you have done, God has not left you. He is with you, all you have to do is call out to Him.

I give praise that God has made me aware of His presence in my life. I know there are moments when I miss God being with me because I am living in fear, but for those times that I am mindful of how He is with me, there is a peace that I can not even describe.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that as You told Joshua to not be fearful or discouraged because You were with him wherever he went, that You also promise me the same thing. I give you thanks that no matter what I do, you will never leave me or forsake me. Help me to be aware of Your presence every second of my day so that I can experience Your gift of peace. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!

How are you doing with this month’s memory verse?“Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”—Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT)
