Is it Time for a Change?
“And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.”—2 John 1:6
Not many of us like change. We get used to doing things a certain way and when it is suggested to do things differently, we may resist. It isn't easy, but sometimes it is necessary for us.
Last week, my post was “Is God Calling You?” I felt God impress on my heart that someone needed to respond to God’s prompts. Well, that person was me! Funny how God works isn’t it? God was preparing my heart to be open to change.
I received an email from my agent that the book publisher wanted to know if I was open to changing the title of my book from Threads with Red. Not only has the concept for this been in the works for nearly 4 years, but I have a domain name and social media accounts that I identify with as Threads with Red.
However, when I heard their reasoning, I was open to this modification. Apparently there is a book called, The Red Thread: The Buddhist Approaches to Sexuality. What???? When I was googling book titles, I saw “The Red Thread,” but never clicked on it to see what it was. It’s a good thing I didn’t because I may have steered away from using the Threads with Red theme in my book. The whole purpose of using the red yarn at the beginning and end of each project is not only to make our projects unique but it also symbolizes how we are sealed with the blood of Christ from the beginning to the end.
The scarlet thread is a theme throughout the scriptures from the Old Testament to the New Testament. We see blood as an atonement for our sins with the Old Testament pointing to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Just as Rahab trusted God to take care of her in Joshua 2:18 by putting a cord made out of scarlet thread out her window, I trust God to use my Threads with Red concept in my book.
I am not opposed to a title change as long as I can keep the theme of the red thread in it. My tagline is Knit, Praise, Love, so that may end up being my title. I don’t know but God does. I ask my readers for patience and prayers during this process. You may see a logo change, name change or even domain address change. I don’t know exactly how this is going to all unfold, but God does and His ways are always best.
The title of my book shouldn’t be my focus. As 2 John 1:6 states, I am to walk in obedience to God’s commands and walk in love. Knitting, praying and giving away my gifts in the name of Jesus is the purpose of my book. That isn’t going to change. This book isn’t about me, it’s about sharing the love of Jesus through your hands and your heart.
This is where this month’s memory verse 2 Corinthians 5:7 has been a good verse to memorize. I continue to live by faith and not by sight. While I don’t know every detail of God’s plan for this, God does and I will continue to trust where He is leading me.
Change requires us to follow Jesus one step at a time. Is it possible that God is also calling someone that is reading this to make a change in their life too? It may not be something major. It could be as simple as incorporating reading a daily devotion every morning or night before bed. Or maybe, you need to change your perspective about a situation? I don't know but if you are feeling a tug at your heart right now, you know what changes you need to make.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that Your plans and timing are perfect. I continue to trust You to lead and guide me. Help me to keep my eyes on You and place every detail in Your hands. Open my eyes and heart to any change that You are wanting from me. I know that change isn’t easy, but when You are in it, I can trust that it is because You want what is best for me. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
If you are memorizing, “For we live by faith, not by sight.”—2 Corinthians 5:7, How are you doing?
