Let God be Your Master Planner
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”—Romans 8:28 (NIV)
I will be the first to admit that I have a Type A personality. I like to have a plan. A few months ago, I had two things on my “to do” list; visit a new knitting group and stop by Fiber Lady for some yarn. I wasn’t for sure that the group was meeting because of a holiday parade but felt as if I need to go just in case they were. It turned out the streets were closed for the parade, so I turned around and headed to the yarn store.
It’s not like I had to buy yarn on that day, but it was on my list of things to get done since I was in that area. I started making small talk with one of the owners (who was only there to open the store and then was leaving….had I made it to that other group, I would have missed him). I asked him if they were doing any upcoming fiber shows. He told me about this REALLY big one in February in California that they go to every year. I told him I had only gone to the local one in our area and that one of these days, I would get some friends to go with me to an event like that.
I finished my purchase, got in my car and was getting ready to leave when he came back out and said, “hey, my wife sent me out here to see if you wanted to join us at STITCHES West at the end of February. We can order your books and set-up a table for you to do a book signing.” I was shocked to say the least. I nearly started crying when he asked me. I told him I would love to and would check to see if I could get a decent flight and hotel room and get back to them.
Honestly, I couldn’t believe that God put such an amazing opportunity in my pathway. Not only was I able to get an airline ticket but the hotel attached to the convention center that said, “Sold out” online had one room left when I called them directly. How does that happen?
Turns out the owners of Fiber Lady are also sponsors at this show and can invite guests to sit with them at the the Friday/Saturday night dinners where you get to meet big names in the industry. Guess who they invited? Me!!!! Did I forget to mention, I have also been blessed with a 1/2 page ad in the program!
Isn’t God good? HE IS FAITHFUL TO HIS PROMISES! He hasn’t left me or forsaken me. He is blessing me for my obedient and willing heart to share His love through Knit, Pray, Share. I have been clinging to Romans 8:28. When we live in obedience and humility, God can bless us more than we can ever imagine.
Going to STITCHES West wasn’t even on my radar, so I have no doubt God was behind the scenes orchestrating this for me and part of that was stopping by the yarn store on that day at that time.
As you plan your day, pray for God to orchestrate it and see if He lays on your heart something that He wants you to do first. It may not make any sense to do it, but do it anyway. Watch God at work when you step out of your schedule and into His. God can and will do amazing things when you let Him help plan your day.
Dear Lord, thank You for Your wonderful plans for me. When I invite You into my day, You provide better for me than I could ever imagine. I trust Your guidance and direction for my life. Continue to open my eyes and ears to where you are leading me this week. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
