False Teachings
“I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. 18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. Romans 16:17-18
Our unstable world doesn’t shake our God. One day God will transform the moral order of our universe. He will bring judgment on all the nations of the earth. He has already determined what and when it will take place. Knowing this gives me peace.
The secular world is indifferent to what God’s Word says. Its ideas are poisoning minds. We should be following what scripture tells us not letting the news or social media influence us. His Word is immovable. While we and the world pass away His Word is everlasting.
Romans 16:17-18 warns us to be on the watch for those that cause division. If what we are seeing and hearing conflicts with God’s truth, people will be led down the wrong path. Some opponents of Christianity can be confrontational. There are also the smooth talkers who twist God’s Word using a worldly perspective. They can be rather convincing with their erroneous teachings. They sprinkle in just enough of God’s truth to persuade you that what your gut is telling you is wrong.
The enemy uses false prophets that point to scripture. They take it out of context to twist its meaning. They will incorrectly interpret it for you using just enough truth to make it plausible. This is how many are led astray. If we are not in God’s Word on a consistent basis, those subtle lies become believable. We should be looking at the fruits of what someone is preaching. Are they staying true to scripture?
It isn’t just church leaders who needed to be grounded in God’s Word. We can’t have a spiritual awakening without the right leaders in our country. The next few weeks in the United States, as Christians, we have an opportunity to use our voice to vote those into office, whose policies are most in line with God’s Word. This has nothing to do with political affiliation. You do your research. You look at each candidate’s platform. If their policies do not align with scripture, we should think twice before filling in the box beside their name.
We do our due diligence. We research who is running for office. I downloaded a sample ballot from my county’s website and looked up each candidates’ policies. There were multiple parties on the ballot. I even had to look up what one of them was.. I haven’t decided whether I will early vote or go on election day.
This is a time for Christian voters to stand in truth because we believe in the truth. God can work through us but not if we don’t take action and go to the polls. This isn’t a time to be quiet. It is time for us to take a stand for Jesus. If you are a registered voter in the United States, now is the time to let your voice be heard. I encourage you to not look at political party but rather vote for the candidates whose policies and belief system align with scripture.
Father God,
Forgive me when I let the world’s view influence my thinking. I ask for eyes to be open to false teachings.I pray for the candidates most grounded in Your Word to be revealed. I ask for wisdom and discernment while voting in the midterm elections. Protect the candidates, their families, and the poll workers. Whatever the outcome, let there be unity among believers. I pray. this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
