Whose Are You?

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”—Ephesians 6:12

There are two powers in our world; our Creator of heaven and earth and rebellious powers. The real enemy in our life isn’t another human but the dark spiritual forces that attempt to assert their values onto us. Their aim is to destroy life not create new life. Our most powerful weapon to fight these battles is God’s Word.

In today’s environment it isn’t always easy to find good news. This mess in which we live was created by humans, not God. Now more than ever we need to stand firm and faithful to the hope we find in Jesus. When the world around us seems to be falling apart, we can always find Him in the midst of it.

It is difficult to find peace in a place filled with so much hatred and harm. We have pregnancy crisis centers being vandalized and churches being defamed with a total disregard for property. This is where I hang on to the hope found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. God’s Word tells us, we have a Prince of Peace who IS coming back for us. Until that day, I will keep on living for Jesus.

We will face great tribulation. Are we living in the end of times? I don’t know. What I do know is that we can’t sit idle and do nothing. We are not to be ashamed to speak in boldness. Our inaction can result in people missing out on God’s blessings. My Knit, Pray, Share gift giving has helped me in this area of my life. It is easier for me to share my faith and scripture with a stranger when I give them something I have made.

Do you belong to the world or to God? Do we let the world around us squeeze us into its mold? How do we live in our culture without becoming a part of it? Whose voice do we hear? Is it the world’s or God’s? Bottom line; who are we trying to please? Sacrificing our morals and values for popularity or approval, will leave us feeling empty. Society is not our source. God and His Word are. It grieves our Father when we compromise what the Bible teaches us.

God’s purpose for all of us is to give and receive His love to those around us. If this is our focus, then we aren’t as concerned about what others think. There is life found when we are serving others. As we meet the needs of other people, we find peace and joy in our hearts.

We live in a world abundant in sin. No different then what I have been studying in my Bible reading plan. However, we also live in a world that is abundant in salvation that each and every one of us has available in Jesus Christ. When we belong to Christ and not the temporary world in which we live, His love will flow through us to be a light in the darkness.

 Father God,

Forgive me when I let fear of what others may think stop me from speaking Your truth. I give You praise for Your forgiveness of my sins and Your love that covers them for me. Thank You for Your salvation that is greater than the abundance of sin in our world. Arm me with Your Word to protect me from spiritual attacks. Direct me to people that I can connect with and serve this week. Use me as a light to those who need Your salvation and guidance. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
