Stress into Strength
“God gives peace, and he raised our Lord Jesus Christ from death. Now Jesus is like a Great Shepherd whose blood was used to make God's eternal agreement with his flock. I pray God will make you ready to obey him and that you will always be eager to do right. May Jesus help you do what pleases God. To Jesus Christ be glory forever and ever! Amen.”—Hebrews 13:20-21 (CEV)
With the Holy Spirit indwelling, we have access to everything Jesus is. When we tap into that, it empowers us for both everyday tasks and challenges. God is always willing and able to help me, even when my faith is lacking.
I recently spoke with my agent about revisiting my original book manuscript. She emailed me a proposal to fill out for it. To say I was a bit overwhelmed is an understatement. My initial thought was, maybe I should forget about this. The next morning, I received a sweet email from someone who had read my blog who was also struggling with anxiety over a writing project.
God knew I needed to give support to another sister in Christ as well as receive some too. I responded to her email because she couldn’t comment on the post (the issue has now been fixed!) For some reason when she wrote back to me, she mentioned a Knitting YouTube channel I might want to check out.
I contacted the woman she recommended. While she wasn’t able to do what I was asking (I am looking for YouTube Channels or Instagram accounts to collaborate a giveaway with my book), God blessed me with the greater gift of her godly counsel and encouragement. It was exactly what I needed. I love how God laid it on a stranger’s heart to randomly share something with me that ended up blessing me in an unexpected and different way than I had anticipated. Not just that, now I have two more women who have prayed for me as well.
I need to trust that God has put me in the right place, at the right time, for the right opportunity. God’s presence is what enables me to take a leap of faith with this writing endeavor as well as become more active on YouTube. Without His power, this would stress me out, but as I look back at His faithfulness and how He has blessed and guided my hands in my past, I am reminded that He is with me. It takes courage to yield to God’s purpose for you. God can and will use our personalities for His glory. Our lives are more fruitful when we are fulfilling God’s call for us. We can’t make a difference when we are standing still.
As I trust in God’s leading, I feel His presence and power surrounding me. It helps me walk with confidence knowing He is my guide. Leaning into Him is what keep me going. I can depend on God when I step out in obedience. If God has called me to do this, He will do it. Satan wants me to give up and think, I can’t do this. An affirmation that I must be going in the right direction. He would like to see me continue to make excuses as to why I am unable to minister in a different way. The enemy may try and build walls to stop us but he can’t thwart God’s master plans.
When we find our lot in life, we are able to dwell in it. I am now able to see God’s hand in leading me to that first “Learn to Knit” class. God will call us to difficult assignments. It teaches us to depend on Him not our own abilities. Whatever we face, we can rest assured that God is by our side each step of the way.
After I wrote this, God spoke to me through Ephesians 3:20, Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. I am encouraged as I read this verse. In God’s perfect timing, through His power, He is going to do more than I can ask or imagine! I am already getting an empty room ready so that I can have a designated area for my crafts as well as a place where I feel more comfortable making videos.
I may start by reading this weekly devotion along with what Knit, Pray, Share gift I am working on that week. I am not sure, but I do know I am a daughter of the Most High who has the indwelling Spirit of our Living God. You are too. Do you believe God equips and empowers you for whatever assignment He has called you to do? He does. He just needs you to step out in faith and obedience.
Father God,
Forgive me when I hesitate to take a leap of faith. I know You work in the unseen. Stretch my faith to explore unknown doors that You are opening for me. I trust You to equip me for the task you have laid ahead of me. Remove any anxious thoughts that are keeping me from experiencing Your peace. Help me to reject any fear that is keeping me from walking in Your will. Give me courage and strength to obey you so I can receive Your blessings. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
