“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”—Psalm 11:3

I have a t-shirt that says, Normal isn’t Coming Back, Jesus is. The craziness of our world isn’t going to change. We can’t let that steal our peace. As I read Psalm 11:3, I know what is happening isn’t new. I am currently reading about it in my Bible reading plan.

Over the generations, morals and values have become looser and looser. In reading the Old Testament, I look at Sodom and Gomorrah, the Israelites (God’s people) knew God’s law but had wandered far from it. They became influenced by the pagan cultures surrounding them. God’s people were living a life of depravity and were eventually destroyed because of it.

We live in a world that justifies everything. Not only do we have a generation that doesn’t know what sin is, but we also have something I see as “convenient Christianity.” I think it is more common than we would like to admit. I don’t know the statistics, but I heard a podcast talking about how we have a younger generation not involved in a physical church more than any other time in history.

God’s truth is counter cultural. He values things such as humility that our world does not. His desire if for His children to give Him the glory for their blessings not for us to take credit for them. This isn’t what secularism teaches.

While many may claim to be a Christian, their faith waivers when they risk being cancelled for their conservative views. Rather than stand up for their beliefs, they cave into the pressure of what the world tells them they “should” believe.  Christ can’t be blended in with our culture. It is not easy to stay strong and stand up for God’s truth in our godless society. Things that were unthinkable when I was growing up are now whole heartedly being embraced.

Do you know what our most powerful tool to combat this faithless generation? Prayer. We can use it to shape the world around us. There are no limits to what God can achieve through us when we pray. Revivals have happened throughout human history, but it isn’t going to occur if we do nothing.

The moral foundations our country was founded on are quickly disappearing. Culture changes when the human heart changes. Our fervent prayers are needed more now than ever for our leaders. Not only should be we praying for our president and government leaders, but also teachers, preachers, school boards and local authorities. We know that God answers prayers according to His will. It is His desire for Christians to be living a life that aligns with scripture Not all leaders who are believers are doing this. This year I continue to pray for hearts to be convicted and drawn back to His Word.

Despite the unbelief and evil we see in our world, as Christ followers, Jesus tells us in John 8:12, whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness but have the light of life. We have the light of Christ within us to illuminate our day when we fix our eyes on Him. We step out of the darkness and into His light. Every day we have an opportunity to reflect His love to all who are put in our pathway.

The disciples in the New Testament were living in similar times as we are. Setting my heart and hope in Jesus’ return is what gets me through our ever changing world in which we currently live. Daily, I have to remind myself nothing happening in our world takes God by surprise. Until that day of Christ’s return, I will keep doing what I am doing. I will live a life that tries to stir a movement by motivating other Christian crafters to be bolder in their faith through their loving acts of kindness.

Father God,

Forgive me when I let the world values influence my thinking. Silence the voices of compromise. Give me a lens of love to interact with those whose beliefs don’t align with Your Word.  I ask for the hearts of local, state, national and world leaders to be convicted of doctrines that clearly don’t align with scripture. Help me to keep my eyes on You and not the troubles of this world.  I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
