Road Map
“You are my God. Show me what you want me to do, and let your gentle Spirit lead me in the right path.”—Psalm 143:10 (CEV)
Wouldn’t it be nice if God gave us a road map to where He is leading us? He doesn’t because He wants us to trust Him in the journey. Psalm 143:10 tells us, when you seek God, He will show His plan for you. As we step out in obedience to where He is calling us, our faith deepens as we see His provisions along the way. God has already mapped out my day. Will I let Him do His work?
Despite the unknowns, do I trust God to lead me? In faith, I must move forward and trust God will direct every one of my steps. With God, I will become the person that He has created me to be. He is beside both me and you. Being aware of His presence is the best antidote for fear. I have shared how recently I lost sight of the Most High by letting problems and details fill my mind. I had been letting my mother’s issues become mine. It was stealing my joy.
I am back on track. God has been faithful. He continues to reveal to me how He invites imperfect people like me to be a part of His plan. As we step out to where He is leading us, our efforts will be rewarded. It is never a waste of time.
If I can plant some seeds during this season, God will do the growing. I am called to keep on sowing. Again, what we do doesn’t have to be grand. Our small efforts can be multiplied for His purposes. I am working on learning the names of the employees at my mother’s assisted living. I like to greet them by name and thank them for all they do. Of course, a few have already received knit gifts from me too.
He will purposefully and carefully guide us along the path He has paved for us. It is up to us to trust in His timing to reveal which direction He wants us to take. “Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.”—Psalm 25:4 (NLT) We need not be afraid when we are walking in God’s will. Sharing the Gospel by living and loving like Jesus is how we can all do that.
God wants to walk with us step-by-step. We want the big picture. He wants us to trust Him one day at a time. He may be leading you into unfamiliar territory. Lean into Him to guide you. Many days I start my day walking with God, but then I start to get ahead of Him.
When that happens, I can’t hear His voice and I lose connection to my Guide. This is exactly what happened to me when I was taking on being responsible for my mother’s happiness. Thankfully, we have a patient and loving God who opened my eyes to my flawed thinking.
Father God,
Forgive me when I am unaware of Your steadfast presence. You are with me and never leave my side. I know this foreign path You are leading me on will bring me blessings. Continue to reveal how You can use me. Help me to trust You in the big and small things in my life. I give You praise that as I learn more about who You are, I am filled with Your peace. I lift those up to You are unclear to the path where You are leading them. Reveal Your plans to them through scripture. Lead them to a passage showing them the next step to take. I pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
May Verse
I have chosen Proverbs 17:22 as my verse for the month as a reminder to find the joy in all things.
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”—Proverbs 17:22
