Looking at my Knit, Pray, Crochet group, while we are all different, God works through our diversity. Through His work in each of us, we all enhance each other’s existence. We inspire and encourage one another. We are all able to use our individual gifts to offer back to Him. It takes teamwork.

While our ministry may never see the fruits of its labor, we did have someone from upper management approach our group a few months ago. Unfortunately, I was out-of-town when this happened. She had heard about our group gathering at the restaurant and wanted to meet us to tell her story.

Since I wasn’t actually present, the detail aren’t exact, but this is what I remember from their conversation with her. When this woman was younger, she had gotten pregnant. Her Christian mother, encouraged her to go to a pregnancy crisis center before she considered terminating the pregnancy. After hearing the heartbeat and being given a pair of knit booties, she decided to keep the baby. Her son is now an adult. She told the ladies that she still has the booties as well as what they meant to her. She encouraged us to keep doing what we are doing. What a gift that she shared that with us.

Stories like these are why we keep doing what we are doing. Again, it takes teamwork for this to happen. We are able to seek God’s will together. We are co-laborers. As a group, we are able to make a difference in God’s kingdom through our handmade items. Whether it is a hat for the homeless or a baby hat/blanket for a pregnancy crisis center, the person receiving it will more than likely never meet us, but we pray for them to have an encounter with Jesus.

Christian crafters, have their own unique gifts or ways to bless people in their community. It is up to us together, to minister and reach out to an unbelieving world. One of the ladies in a different small group I finished up, uses her craft of gardening as a ministry tool. Hearing about our group, encouraged her to keep giving away her flowers. Don’t stop what you are doing because you don’t think it matters. It does. God sees how you are serving in the name of Jesus and that is why you do it.

From my own personal experience, I can not tell you how important it is to have a spiritual family. For me, I have been blessed to have this with my knitting ladies. Not only do we knit/crochet together but pray for each other too. This is truly a gift to be able to meet each week doing what I love with other sisters in Christ.

Father God,

Thank You for my sisters in Christ. These friendships centered around sharing Jesus is a gift I don’t ever want to take for granted. I lift those up to you that are searching for a community to join in their area. Open their eyes to where they can serve You and meet people who will encourage them in their faith journey. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
