Facing the Future with Faith not Fear

“Praise the LORD! Let all that I am praise the LORD. 2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath. 3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.”—Psalm 146:1-3 (NLT)

In the state of Texas, early voting starts today. Many may not like either candidate who is running. However,we need to remember we aren’t voting on personality. If we were, I wouldn’t vote for either. I have accepted that neither political party is going to get it 100% right.

I heard someone on a podcast say, There is only one perfect person and Jesus isn’t on the ballot. We aren’t going to have the perfect ruler until Jesus returns. We have to vote for the best of the two imperfect people. In my decision I am also looking at the vice-presidential candidate.

No candidate is going to be perfect, nor will I agree on every single one of their policies. Nevertheless, I will vote for the one whose ideologies most align with biblical truth. Culture wants you to believe what the Bible says is wrong or outdated and doesn’t apply to today.

What I can tell you is this; God’s standards don’t change. They still hold true today. We don’t compromise because the world tells us we should. We stand for God’s truth. God can restore righteousness in our nation. We pray. We vote. We let our voice be heard.

According to MyFaithVotes.org, It is estimated 25 million Christians who are registered to vote, fail to vote in presidential elections. Now is not the time to retreat because you feel as if neither candidate is a good option. Again, we vote on whose policies most align with Biblical truth.

I plan on getting out to vote in this election. With all of the media coverage, I have had to find a good balance on doing my research and staying informed. Too much negative news affects my countenance.

When I start to feel anxious over it, I find podcasts to listen to that I know will fill me up with God’s Word and promises. Tuning to the One who never changes is where I find my peace.

God has a plan. I trust His Word. We face the world with faith not fear. God knows the outcome of this election. I trust God’s hand is on our country.

When you read the Bible, in the Old Testament, the people cried out for a king. Some followed God and some didn’t. When God’s people started to follow the ways of the world, there were consequences for their sin. It is no different now.

Whoever is voted into leadership on November 5th, may not be who you or I desire. However, I believe God’s Word in Romans 14:11. “It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'  God is the only hope for saving our country. Despite who is the leader of our country, God’s leadership always reigns in our hearts.

Father God,

I pray for lukewarm believers and disengaged Christians to be convicted to stand up boldly for You and Your Kingdom by voting in this election. Rise up a country of those with discernment and moral voices who will bring You glory and honor. I ask for people to have the desire to be together again as one nation under God.  I pray for You to move hearts in our land. Help me to trust You in a world that is becoming unhinged. You know the end result. I trust You for the outcome. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
