The Divider
“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,”—Matthew 24:10
God is on His throne in Heaven. Nothing happening in our country or world frightens Him. I am sure it grieves Him to see other believers fighting amongst themselves, but it doesn’t surprise Him.
Dictionary.com defines Satan as the chief evil spirit; the great adversary of humanity; the devil. He is our opposer or adversary. We live in a divisive world. It is natural for us to disagree with other opinions. Throughout the Bible we read about it. God has been dealing with this since the beginning of time. It isn’t new to Him.
Not only is there division between those who believe and those that don’t, but it has creeped into our everyday society. Political parties didn’t used to be this divided. Strong family units are no longer the norm. Public schools are causing animosity among parents and administration. Religious intolerance seems to be more widespread. I know these barely touch on all the area the enemy has setup camp in our world.
As Christians, how do we live in a such a divisive society? A revival is not out of God’s reach, but it takes prayer for that to happen. We pray God’s will for unity of the family, bringing Christ back into Christmas, peace between political parties and for churches and Christians to follow God’s Word and not the world are just a few ways we can pray. Our prayers DO matter. God hears them.
Our world is in a spiritual battle. Do we stay silent when our faith is opposed? No, we pray for the strength to stand up for our beliefs in a gentle way. We pray for boldness to speak truth without fear of being canceled. The Good News is; we have the hope that one day there will be no more division but a heavenly wholeness. Praise God for our Living Hope in Jesus. He IS KING!
Father God,
Forgive me when I take my eyes off of You during adversity, Only constant communication with you calms my troubled soul. Show me how to live in our divisive society. I ask for guidance to stand up for my beliefs in a gentle way. With what is going on in our world today, I pray for peace to fill anxious hearts. Help me accept things the way they are and not lose sight that You are in control. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
