“If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”—Romans 12:8 (NLT)
My phrase for 2018 was,“Be Still.” My church’s word was,“Uncomfortable,” so I incorporated both of those words. The reality for me is that being still is uncomfortable for me. My struggle was stilling my mind during my quiet time. It did help to go back to my hard copy Bible versus using my IPad for that. While I will continue with that discipline this next year, for 2019, my word is, “BOLD.”
I want to be more bold in 2019 in sharing my Knit, Pray, Share items. How am I really I giving away my gifts to share Jesus with others? What can I do to maximize this? What can you do? For me, I have always had a heart to love and serve others, but I didn’t know how to love like Jesus. When I accepted Christ into my life, He grew me in this area. Through my knitting, I now realize this is a gift that He has blessed me with.
Some people are gifted with singing, others are born leaders who have no problem taking charge and organizing a women’s conference. While I have neither of those gifts, You can put me in a charge of a portion of an event, just not the whole thing. Just like me, you know your strengths, so think about what you can do this year to maximize them in being bolder in sharing the love of Jesus to those around you.
For 2019, I plan on going full throttle with Knit, Pray, Share. I have started a YouTube channel and will have knitting tutorials. I am trying to get the word out to the knitting community about making, praying and sharing our knitted items with those that make a difference in our day using the threads with red theme. If you knit or crochet, will you join my for 2019 to be bolder in giving away knit/crochet items to others to let them know they make a difference?
Dear Lord,
Transform my heart to enjoy the gifts You have given me. Help me to use them to glorify You. Give me the boldness to let those around me know that they matter and they make a difference. I ask for Your love to flow through me to others. It is in the mighty name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
Since I haven’t committed Romans 15:13 to memory yet, For January, I am still memorizing Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” For 2019, I pray for those reading this that Your God of hope will fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with the power of the Holy Spirit.
If you are knitting gifts to give away to those in your sphere of influence to let them know they matter, attach a tag to your gift. Please make sure you tweet @KnitPrayShare or share your projects on the Knit, Pray, Share Facebook page or Instagram using the hashtag #KnitPrayShare
