“fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”—Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)
Last Friday morning, as I was spending some quiet time with the Lord on my patio, I said a prayer about a knitting get together one of my friends had offered to host at her house to help proofread some of the patterns for a knitting devotion book that I am writing. I offered to bring the food for everyone and when I was thinking about all I needed to do to prepare, I started having anxiety. I thought, “Lord I am not sure I can do this. Give me clarity if this is Your will or not.” Honestly, I was ready to send out a text to cancel because the thought of me having to prepare food was overwhelming me. Isaiah 41:10 was one of the scriptures in Jesus Calling that day.
Right after that prayer, I went inside to refill my coffee. At that moment my phone dinged. Since I have made it a habit to not have my phone with me to distract me during my quiet time, I almost didn’t check it, However, I felt a nudge to look at it. Do you know who it was? It was my friend that was hosting the get together. She offered to provide the food for our gathering. While I know to many that may not seem like a big deal, but God knew that was specifically what was causing me unrest.
Just like God sent that mourning dove last week to give me peace, He had my phone ding at the exact moment to calm my anxious heart. Not only was He confirming that it was His will for us to meet but He was also letting me know that He heard my prayer.
I’ve got to be honest here. For May, my memory verse was, “Search the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him ”—1 Chronicles 16:11. It isn’t imprinted on my heart, so it is June’s memory verse too. I know it is because I really need that verse this month. This week I was given an offer from a publisher for my knitting devotion pattern book! Praise God! However, I now have a deadline to get it all together. I know the only way that I can do this is to search God for His strength and seek Him continually. There is no way I can do this without Him.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the reminder in Isaiah 41:10. I shall not fear or be dismayed because You are my God. You will strengthen, help and uphold be with Your righteous Hand. I know that as long as I search and seek You for my strength that all things are possible through You. Forgive me when I have fears and doubts about how You can supernaturally provide for me. I thank You that You not only hear my prayers but can answer them in a text message. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray all of these things. Amen.
If you haven’t memorized “Search the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him ”—1 Chronicles 16:11, you have another month to join me. As a reminder, I have it written on my prayer list.
