“For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.”—1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NLT)
A few weeks ago, I shared how I could be my biggest critic. I found a mistake in a pattern in Knit, Pray, Share and was beating myself up about it. The defeat I felt was self-imposed. If I had believed the lies swirling in my head, I wouldn’t be writing this now. I need to be reminding myself every day, Lisa, you are loved and a daughter of the King Most High. No matter what happens in our day, God loves us. That won’t ever change. My life shouldn’t be about living for the world’s approval but for God’s.
My job is to please God alone. He will take care of everything else. He knows my heart. Other opinions of me should not hold me back to living out God’s call for me. As a believer, I am called to share the Gospel. How God calls me is different than how He calls you. The bottom line is that as a believer in Christ, we have been entrusted with sharing the love of Jesus. How that looks for you, is not the same as me.
For me, I have been able to do this through writing these posts and giving away my knit gifts. I came up with a pattern to make headbands with buttons that are called “ear savers for face masks.” I made some that were blue with red trim to give to a couple postal workers. I know it isn’t much but since they are required to wear a mask all day, this may give them some relief. I was also able to gift one to an employee at a retail store as well. I have also made some out of ribbon and snaps that can be used for both men and women. These are quick and easy projects I can work on as I watch TV or listen to music/podcasts.
God calls each of us in different ways to share His love. Praying and giving are two ways all of us can do that. Maybe donating supplies, food or giving financially to organizations are one way you can help. I love that our church gave Door Dash gift cards to single moms for Mother’s Day. Do you know a single parent that you could bless with a gift card to Uber Eats, Door Dash of one of your local restaurants?
As you read this, did a person or organization come to mind that you could help? Listen to that nudge. I encourage you to step out in faith and be a blessing to someone this week. I would love to hear how it goes for you. 😊
Lord,
Help me to serve You alone. Forgive me when I let the approval of others keep me from sharing Jesus with someone. I ask for wisdom and direction on how You want me to share the Good News to others. I praise You for the Holy Spirit that empowers me. Lead me to those who are in the need of the hope found in Jesus. I thank You that You are able to use me to make a difference in someone’s day. It is the name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen.
