Give us today our daily bread.”—Matthew 6:11
Without prayer, I am lost. I could not do what I am doing without it. Knitting, writing and giving gifts away are all things that could not happen if I didn’t seek God daily. My prayer time not only brings me closer to the Lord but is also gives me the strength and encouragement to do what I am doing. Feeding my spirit is what deepens my faith.
There are days when I think, does what I am doing really make a difference? Are any other people knitting, praying and sharing gifts in their community? Do my words plants seeds of faith, hope and encouragement? When I share these thoughts with God, He will send me an encouraging email or comment or a post that will lift my spirit. I get the needed affirmation from my Heavenly Father to continue with what I am doing..
Reading scripture is another way my mind and soul are renewed. I find comfort, encouragement and strength as I am reminded of God’s love and promises that He will never leave me or forsake me. When I flood my mind with these truths found in scripture, it removes the seeds of doubt that the enemy is trying to plant in my head. Spending time in God’s Word also keeps me humble as well as reminding me how I should be living and loving.
The enemy wants me to believe what I am doing doesn’t matter, but in God’s eyes, any small thing that I do in His name, He sees and DOES make a difference. Nourishing my relationship with the Lord is what sustains me. When I pray and thank Him throughout the day, discouragement doesn’t seep into my thinking.
We all have the gift of being filled with His Spirit through His Word and prayer. This is how we get the needed strength to get through each day. This is my daily bread. How have you found comfort through God and His Word? What are some ways this week that you can let God’s love and His Word be an anchor to your soul?
Lord,
I come to you asking for help to “keep on keeping on.” It is only through Your strength that I can achieve Your divine purpose in my life. I thank You that when I come to You in prayer that You can and will enable me to reach my potential. I give thanks that You give me my Daily Bread to sustain me and anchor me each and every day. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
June Memory Verse
I know many of us may have memorized the Lord’s prayer, but I would like to specifically memorize one line from Matthew 6. Each morning before my feet hit the floor, I will pray, Lord, give me today my Daily Bread. When I do this, I am inviting Him into my day. God is not going to enter our day uninvited. Will you join me this month implementing this scripture into your daily routine?
