“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”—Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT)
God’s Word tells me in Ephesians 3:16-19 that He will empower me with His inner strength through His Spirit, make His home in my heart as I trust in Him my roots will grow down deep in His love in ways that I can never fully understand. It is hard for me to fathom God’s infinite love for me and how he can do more than I can ever ask or imagine.
If you will let it, His Word can revive that sapped spirit, comfort your hurting heart, restore your strength, nourish a parched soul and renew an anxious mind. If don’t share the things that are troubling my spirit, it keeps me from focusing on my time with God.
Life can’t change if our mindset doesn’t. When my thinking is framed by God’s Word rather than my emotions, it is easier for me to process irrational feelings. Reading the Bible helps me to transform my thoughts and how I act. It directs s me to view the world through God’s lens. As I plant His Word deep in my heart through Bible study, I spend the needed time to calm my soul and learn more about who God is. The only way to conquer my fear is through faith and facts.
I can’t recognize God’s voice when my thoughts aren’t Christ centered. Are my feelings my own thoughts or is God telling me something? If what I am feeling doesn’t align with God’s will than that isn’t God speaking to me. Is this my own decision or God’s? If I am not totally surrendering the situation to God, the tendency is to do something and then ask God for His blessings.
I am blinded by opportunities to serve others when I am on focused on myself. When I love God and love others as God commands in Mark 12:30-31, my concerns start to fade. As I look for ways to be a blessing to someone else, I am redirected. God may not change a situation or remove painful circumstances, but He never leaves or forsakes us. He is Immanuel. God with us.
As I focus on life giving thoughts, it makes life more pleasant. Being calm and unflustered when unknown things come my way is a better way for me to live. Rather than expecting the worst, I lean into God’s Word and His ways and wait with confident expectation to see how He is going to move in my life.
I know if I let anxiety get a foothold of my mind that I will miss out on what God has in store for me. God has blessings for each and every one of us as long as we don’t let fear and doubt keep us from experiencing them.
I have Matthew 6:34 imprinted on my heart but I recently read The Message version of it, Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. This is the heart of a worrier. It is when our imagination can so easily lead us astray in a matter of seconds.
In Matthew 6, Jesus is telling us to keep our attention on our Lord and Savior and where He is working in our lives right now not tomorrow. The only way I can have a tranquil heart is when I trust God. He is by my side and walks alongside me. Taking one day at a time is all we can do. We cannot control what tomorrow brings. What fears or doubts about tomorrow are keeping you from living for today? Lay them at the foot of the cross and enjoy the gift of God’s peace as You trust Him to take care of you today.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the supernatural strength and joy You give me as I lay my worries in Your lap. Forgive me when I take things into my own hands and then ask You to bless it. I praise You that no matter what my troubles, You never leave my side. Help me to release my fears and hang on to faith and hope in You. I give You thanks for Your unlimited resources that will empower me with the strength to calm an anxious soul to take one day at a time and not worry about tomorrow. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things.
March Memory Verse
“We love because he first loved us.”—1 John 4:19
This verse is a reminder for us to not just be receivers of God’s love but to be a giver of His love too. It is through His supernatural love that flows through us that it can flow out of us into others.
