Partial Obedience

Partial Obedience

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” I give You praise that I can accomplish what You have called me to do.”—Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

Partially obeying God is still called disobedience. It would be like me buying all the stuff for my craft room/studio, record one video and say, “I did what God led me to do.” If I truly feel God is leading me to do this, I can’t do it half-heartedly. I go all in and give it 100%. I commit to uploading one video a week. I don’t obsess over views or subscribers. I hit the record button and see where God takes me with it.

I will be honest; God has been nudging me for several months to be more active on YouTube.  When Knit, Pray, Share was first published, I had started a channel with tutorials that went along with the book as well as a few videos sharing my heart about the ministry. After that, I didn’t upload any new material. That was three years ago.

Despite not really knowing what I am doing, I am putting one foot in front of the other. God continues to put people in my pathway affirming the direction I am going. A friend had suggested I add more lighting behind me. I agreed but wasn’t sure how to do it. This past weekend my daughter and son-in-law were in town. He just so happened to have some extra lighting he wasn’t using that he brought with him to share with me. He even set it up where it needed to go. Isn’t God good? He cares about the little details in our lives too.

Being afraid of succeeding is what keeps many of us from pursuing God’s call…at least it is with me. I may not have thousands of subscribers on the Knit, Pray, Crochet channel, but even if there was only one, that would be one more person who is interested in sharing the love of Jesus through their handmade items. We change the world one person at a time.

If you aren’t sure where God is calling you, think about things you enjoy doing that you can share with others. “Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.”—2 John 1:6 (NLT). This isn’t a suggestion. It is a commandment. We are to love others. When we do this, we are partnering with God.  What can you do this week to fulfill this call? No cause is too small.

When we are obedient, He takes care of our needs. What I am doing doesn’t have to be perfect or professional. He isn’t going to call us to accomplish something in His name and leave us to do it on our own. As I let God guide me, He provides for me. I saw it this past week when my need for new lighting was met.

My verse this month is Philippians 4:13. I can truly say, these past few weeks of taping and editing are from the hand of God. What I thought was impossible has been possible. I know I can’t do it by myself. As I yield to Him in obedience, God’s power within me releases. Could I be wrong about this channel? Absolutely, but I will never know if I don’t put myself out there. Victory can only come when I walk with a whole-hearted obedience.

If you feel God is calling you to do something, remember you are only responsible for your part, not anyone else’s. With God on our side, We don’t need to worry about having enough resources or strength to get through the day. He will equip us with the needed provisions. We can do all things when we put our trust in HIm. Where or how are you needing to trust God this week?

 Father God,

Show me how to be a conduit to share Your love and spread the Gospel. Forgive me when I let anxiety and judgment keep me from stepping out in faith.  I renounce fear and doubt. I rejoice in reading Ephesians 3:20, “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” I give You praise that I can accomplish what You have called me to do. I lift those up to You who are struggling in identifying the gifts You have given them. Open their eyes and ears to where You are calling them. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.

October Verse

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”—Philippians 4:13
