“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”—Matthew 28:19
Matthew 28:19 is called the Great Commission. These were Jesus’ words to His disciples. They apply to us too. As a disciple of Christ, I am called to seek the lost and unseen. It is our mission as the church. It is a command for all of us. This was the church’s mission in the time of Jesus and still is now.
Wherever God has planted your feet is where you minister. I don’t know about you, but for me, as a Christian it weighs heavy on my heart to share Jesus with those that don’t know Him. In our homes, families, work, community…. wherever we are, we are called to share God’s Word and ways to those around us.
This can’t be done if I don’t move outside the walls of the physical church to serve. Am I ready and willing to share the Good News to the ends of the earth? This isn’t a call for only church clergy. It is for you and me too. God has given each one of us the ability to pray, and tell our family, friends, maybe strangers all the Lord has done for us. That is called sharing the Gospel. It doesn’t have to be done in a sermon, podcast, or blog post.
We help and serve while proclaiming the good news of Christ. Showing genuine love and compassion is how we love like Jesus. We join together as a body of believers through fellowship and prayer. Both my baby hat ministry and sharing my Knit, Pray, Share gifts are a few ways I am able do this.
Loving others is a decision we have to make each day we wake-up. Am I going to treat people as Jesus did? Do I take notice and look at them rather than my phone? Where can you partner with God this week to be a blessing to someone else? Is there someone in your sphere of influence who doesn’t know Jesus that you can minister to?
It all starts with planting the seed of love. Plant a seed and watch God grow it. In faith, we have to believe God is going to put people in our pathway to pour into their lives.
Father God,
I ask for transformation of hearts by the Gospel. Use me as a faithful witness to bring glory to Your name in my corner of the world. Forgive me when I miss opportunities to be bolder in my faith. I pray for those in need of salvation. I ask for hearts to be softened to receive Your love. Use me to plant seeds to help grow Your Kingdom. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
