“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).”—Matthew 1:23
While most of this month may have been spent preparing for Christmas gatherings, in a few days many will be attending Christmas Eve services. I love singing familiar Christmas songs as well as lighting the candles at the end of the service. It always makes me teary eyed to see so many believers gathering in one place holding their light up in the dark.
In the past, we have attended with our children, but this year we are celebrating Christmas early with them. It will be odd not waking up Christmas morning opening gifts together or having brunch with my brother and his family.
However, Christmas morning isn’t about opening gifts from under the tree and our Christmas stockings. It is remembering why this day is so special. God sent His Son, Jesus into the world so that we could step into a personal relationship with Him.
Matthew 1:23 tells us; Immanuel means God with us. When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, He takes residence in us. He is with us forever. This is the true Christmas miracle for us to share. God came down from heaven through His Son, Jesus.
Knowing God is with me is what gets me through the day. I don’t ever walk alone. God’s presence is constantly with me. It offers guidance, comfort, and hope no matter my circumstances.
I find peace knowing God is with me guiding me through life’s uncertainty and challenges. I am never alone. I have Immanuel whose unwavering love never leaves my side.
This Christmas day, let us reflect on the true gift of Jesus coming into our world; celebrating the salvation given to us through His ultimate gift of redemption. His birth, life, death, and resurrection has secured believers salvation. May you draw closer to Jesus whose birth changed everything for us.
Father God,
Redirect my focus to the true meaning of Christmas…celebrating You and Your grace and mercy for all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I give You thanks for loving me so much to give me such a gift. Thank You for sending Jesus to take on the sins of this world so that all who accept Him as their Lord and Savior have eternal life in You. I ask for hearts to be softened to hearing the Christmas message and all they can have when they open their hearts, souls and minds to Your saving grace. May they feel You with them. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
December Verse
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”—Romans 15:13
