“Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!”Psalm 150:6 (NLT)
There is daily evidence of God’s hand in our lives. We don’t have to wait until Sunday service to praise Him. We thank God He cares enough about us that He wants to hear us verbalize our grateful heart.
When I neglect my practice of thanking God throughout my day, my mind inevitably redirects to my troubles. Trust me, not complaining about my mom’s behaviors isn’t always how I respond.
Finding beauty in the everyday moments doesn’t come naturally. However, the more I do it, the easier it is for me to see God’s hand and blessings in the middle of the struggles.
I have started to make a list of things in my life that our praiseworthy. Adding to this list, I am going to make a list of unwanted circumstances and turn them into a praise. I think this will help we not resent the caretaking/phone calls with my mother as well as see God’s sprinkle of blessings in them.
This next week, each morning I am going to read this list and focus on these things. Again, here is my word again for 2025; Focus. God continues to convict me this year to keep my eyes on Him.
Simple acts of thanking God not only lift my soul, but they also draw me closer to Him. It brings me an inner peace as well as fosters peace to those around me. Being kind, loving and understanding all thrive when our focus shifts to what is praiseworthy.
While we are closer to finding a new place for my mother, we haven’t signed any paperwork to put the wheels in motion. However, God is using the situation with her to change me. I have been thanking God for a solution about her living situation even though it hasn’t been decided. God is much more capable than I am.
As I was wrapping up writing this post, I read a meme on Instagram that said this: Don’t let the Devil take away the joy God gave you. One thing may be wrong but 10 things are right. Focus on your blessings not your problems. My response was; Amen. Thank You Jesus for another timely reminder.
No matter what, we can always thank God for the death and resurrection of Christ for which we are sanctified and set free from the bondage of sin. Praise God!
Father God,
Forgive me when I grumble or complain about my situation. Guard my heart and mind from negative thinking. May I focus on all the blessings You have revealed to me; both big and small. Let Your peace and truth rule in my heart. May I maintain serenity in my challenging days. Thank You for providing sweet photos/videos of my grandsons to make me smile. Most of all I thank You Your Precious Son, Jesus, who made a way for me to be sanctified and set free from the bondage of sin. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
