“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”—Luke 19:10 (NLT)
In Luke, 19, we are told Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He is still doing that today through other believers. We can share the Good News of Jesus with others who are searching for more in life.
Jesus sought me out and saved my lost soul by putting Christ followers in my life. He has taken my mistakes, and despair and worked them for my good. He IS the God of second chances, renewal, and restoration. Think about how many people would be lost and living in sin had Jesus not got a hold of their hearts.
My words of encouragement could rekindle hope within someone. As a Christ follower, we are qualified to share the hope we have in Jesus with others because we have the Holy Spirit within us. Has God opened a door for you to proclaim His Word to a nonbeliever or someone new in their faith walk?
Sharing our faith can be how someone finds theirs. This year I have been asking God to help me be more intentional in this area of my life. I recently had the opportunity to pray over a situation with a new believer and gift them one of my favorite morning devotion books.
It was a bit outside of my comfort zone. However, since I have been asking God for opportunities such as this, I know not to ignore His nudges. I’ll be honest, it will feel awkward when you start doing this, but the fullness you feel in your heart after you do, is a gift from God for your obedience.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 9:37; “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. There are people ready and willing to hear the Gospel but not enough of us doing it. Sharing our faith is not something we keep to ourselves. What is a small step you can do this week to share Jesus with someone? Remember, the enemy is real and active. He is going to do his best to discourage you from doing this.
The more and more people who engage in talking about Jesus, the more and more impact we will make for God’s kingdom. We need more Christ followers in our world. Loving and serving like Jesus is how we do this.
I don’t watch the Grammy awards, but I did see the clip that has gone viral with Jelly Roll praising Jesus. Wow! How refreshing it was to hear his boldness in proclaiming his faith during his acceptance speech. I pray his example be one of encouragement for other Christ followers in the entertainment industry to not shy away from the microphone about their faith.
We may not have a stage or microphone, but we all have the same Holy Spirit indwelling to empower us to change our neighborhood, town/city, and country, one person at a time.
Father God,
Thank You for saving this wandering sheep. Without Your seeking, so many people would be living lost and sinful lives. Thank You for not giving up on me. Praise God You are always pursuing and loving Your children. Use me as a vessel to share Your love, grace, and mercy to unbelievers. Help me to be alert to doors You are opening for me to share my faith with someone. Give those who are apprehensive the strength and courage to be bolder in talking about their faith. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
