“The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.”—Psalm 29:11 (NASB)
The rewards God gives us aren’t necessarily material things. Peace, love, joy, strength and comfort are all some of the ways God rewards us. Peace is possible when we seek our Lord and Savior.
In my unpredictable day, God is the one constant I have. He provides me the needed peace and direction for my day. God will bless me with His presence, grace, and love as I keep my eyes on Him. Again, my theme for this year….Focus on Jesus.
Do you live in the future or the present? I try to take it day-to-day but to be honest, it doesn’t take much to send my mind in overdrive. My day will go from one of peace to worrisome thoughts. Thankfully, we have a loving, patient and forgiving God who knows we are human. He hears our cries and whispers.
God can give us peace and rest in the hard times. We have to ask. For me it looks like this; Lord, I need a break. This past week, God gave me rest by providing me four days of helping in a showroom at the Dallas Apparel Mart. While I was exhausted at the end of each day, I had a reprieve from the mental and emotional drain with my mother.
Being able to release my negative feelings about my situation to God has enabled me to have a better outlook on my day. What I think is who I will become. Witnessing how my mother’s negative thinking is who she has become is not something I want to replicate. Her thoughts that affect her behavior don’t have to become mine. I choose to be positive in the midst of adversity.
Looking at how God provided for my in an unexpected way is how I stay positive and focused on how God made peace possible for me this past week. Is there any area in your life that you need to release to Jesus? It is His desire for us to give or burdens to Him.
Father God,
With You, I know Peace is possible. Thank You for reminding me, You are in control of my future, not me. Forgive me when I let the fear of the “what-ifs” take hold of my thoughts. You are the One who gives us strength when we are worn out and tired. Help me stay focused on who You are and how You provide for me in the everyday moments. I lift those up to You who are struggling with finding peace and calm in their life. Let them feel Your presence during their daunting day. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

“In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable”—Philippians 4:18 (GNT)
