“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”—Philippians 4:9
Philippians 4:9 instructs us to put into practice what we have learned, received, or heard from our spiritual mentors. Paul, who is the author of Philippians, reminds us it isn’t enough to learn Christ’s teachings, but we also need to be applying them in our lives.
The enemy wants me to believe my “prime” years are behind me. However, I see it as the opposite. My prime is every day until Jesus calls me home. Each day we are given, we grow in Christ. The more we learn and experience God’s character, the more we can share it with others.
Feelings of uncertainty and inadequacy are tactics the enemy will try to employ to keep us from growing God’s kingdom. The only way to overcome this is to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit. It is a free resource that gives us the needed endurance, boldness, and wisdom. He is our source who works in and through us
Studying the book of Revelation this year has opened my eyes to the urgency we have to spread the love and hope of Jesus in our secular world. We are called to share our faith so others may live in eternity with us. This isn’t a gift for us to keep to ourselves but to share. Our purpose is to be kingdom minded and kingdom bound.
If we want to change the world, we share the Gospel. We share how Jesus transformed our lives and how He can do the same for them too. While being kind and doing good deeds are living like Jesus, we also pray for courage to talk about our life transformation when we found Jesus.
What Paul wrote over 2000 years ago, still applies to us today. We are to live a life that reflects Christ. No matter our age, we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit directing our steps enabling us to go where He leads us.
Father God,
Help me to put into practice all I have learned, received, or heard. I ask for energy and wisdom to live the life You have assigned to me. Reveal to me how and where to apply Your teachings in my life. Continue to teach me how to be a blessing to those who need You. Use me to share Your love to a broken and hurting world. I lift those up to You who are listening to the enemy’s lies that their age limits what You can do in and through them to lead others to You. I pray these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
