“May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere.”—Psalm 67:2 (NLT)
Due to travel, this week’s post will be short and not about my mother!
As many of you know, I have a passion for sharing the love ofJesus. In the New Testament it is called The Great Commission. However, I was enlightened as I was reading Psalm 67 today that is has always been a part of God’s plan for His people. This psalm is a song to be sung about it. By praising God for all He has and is doing with others, we are fulfilling His call for His disciples.
As this post publishes, I will be coming home from a much-needed vacation with some good friends. I have been so overwhelmed and consumed with my mother’s care, I wasn’t taking proper care of me. It was affecting my health. Thankfully, when the doctor told me I needed to lessen my stress, God had already prepared this vacation. He knew the exact time, place and people to be with to revive my stressed-out body.
I took the prior week to knit gifts to bless airline employees as well as those working at the resort. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share the love of Jesus in a corner of the world other than where I live. Hopefully, I will have a story to share with you next week.
Our simple everyday kind interactions do make a difference in God’s kingdom. The Holy Spirit dwelling within us equips and empowers us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and what He has and is doing in our lives. Even the tiniest seed planted can take root.
Of course, not everyone is going to respond positively when we share the Word of God. I know that not every person who receives a knit gift with a scripture on a tag is going to be touched by it. Hopefully, it isn’t to my face, but if it is, I pray for the Holy Spirit to give me the right words to respond or not.
Together with believers around the world we can ignite a desire for others to know and find Jesus. Discipleship is a lifestyle. It is how we become more and more like Him. The more I knit gifts and give them away, the easier it is for me.
Trust me, I know it can be intimidating to let someone know God loves them and they matter. Prayer is what empowers me to do it. When you experience a person being moved by your kind words or actions, it is worth it.
This week, I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you someone that needs the love of Jesus in their day. God will give you the words to say or what you can do for them to lift their spirits. When we are more sensitive to the pricks of the Spirit, we won’t miss out on God’s best for us.
Father God,
Help me make known Your ways and saving power to the lost wherever You place me. Thank You for all the Christ followers worldwide that are boldly sharing the Gospel, especially when it is putting their lives in danger. I ask for You to clearly reveal to me, who I can bless this week. May You give me the right words to say to lift their spirit. If they don’t know You, soften their hearts to be receptive to Your Word. I pray these things in mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
