“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”—Acts 20:24 (NLT)
This week, I was a little down about something, which is when the enemy knows we are the weakest. I wasn’t motivated to write this week and was questioning if I should even keep doing what I am doing.
It is in those moments God knows exactly how to thwart the enemy’s attempts to bring me down. I received both an email and comment on my YouTube channel from someone listening to the Holy Spirit’s nudge thanking me for doing what I am doing. God knew I needed some uplifting words to get me out of my “funk.”
Like I wrote about last week, the gifts God has entrusted to us aren’t for our personal recognition but to advance the Gospel. That encouragement from another sister in Christ was the reminder I needed.
In addition to that, I found out one of the ladies in my Bible study, was grieving her father’s passing. I didn’t have any prayer shawls made, so offered to make one for our group to give to her.
Not only did that give me a purpose, but it also took the focus off me. It was exactly what I needed to redirect my thoughts back to my Father. It also reminded me how much I enjoy making prayer shawls. It had been a while since I had made one for someone specifically.
The reason I first learned to knit was so I could make prayer shawls. I have been a part of prayer shawl ministries in the past. God laid it on my heart a few years ago to come up with my own patterns for the shawls as well as maybe write some kind of devotions to go along with them.
I haven’t done much with it. I have a folder where I have been keeping notes on this. Could my word for 2026, Create have something to do with this? I don’t know. God does and I trust He will reveal to me what His will is for this.
The purpose of life is for me to finish the course and ministry I received from the Lord. Our gifts are to be shared to strengthen others. What started as a small act of faith has become a way of life for me. I do what I do because I want others to find the same love and hope I found in Jesus.
Every setting God places us in is an opportunity for ministry. God uses ordinary responsibilities as platforms for His purpose. We faithfully serve Jesus by encouraging others and trusting God will use it for His glory and salvation of lost souls.
Father God,
Forgive me when I let self-focus keep me from doing Your work. I lift those up to You who are feeling discouraged with their ministry. Put people in their life to lift them up. I thank You for doing that for me. I give You thanks for orchestrating events to redirect my focus back to You. Continue to use me and my knitting to glorify You. May others who receive my handmade gifts find the same love and hope in You that I have. I pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
March Verse
“Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Because of his great mercy he gave us new life by raising Jesus Christ from death. This fills us with a living hope, and so we look forward to possessing the rich blessings that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away.”—1 Peter 1:3-4 (GNT)
