“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.”—Colossians 3:17 (NLT)
Last month I received the total number of books that have been sold from my agent. I had no idea what to expect and I have to remind myself that every book sold is an answer to prayer. The amount of books sold, indicate that not only people that I know me bought them, so that was encouraging.
God even sent me a little hug that week from someone who recently purchased my book. She was glad that she had found the book and let me know it has been a blessing to her. Satan wants me to question what I am doing but then God will give me some kind of confirmation like this to reassure me that I am doing what He has called me to do.
God’s definition of success is not how many books I have sold but whether or not I am living and loving like Jesus. Yes, Knit, Pray, Share has been an avenue to do that but so is writing a blog post and sharing my hand knit gifts that I have prayed over as I make them. When I am committing my ways to the Lord and not the world, God gets the glory.
Being faithful to God’s commands means more than a best-selling book. According to scripture, I am called to be a representative for Christ. That means that I should be sharing the love of Jesus wherever I go. Ephesians 2:10 reminds me, “God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that he has prepared for us to do.” (GW) God created me on purpose for a purpose to be exactly where I am this moment in time.
Success is listening, obeying and stepping out in faith when God asks You to do something. When we find our worth in God and not others, it pleases Him. With the tension in our country, I need to be spreading love and kindness not just in my community but also online as well. As a follower of Christ, those that don’t know the Lord are watching how the Christian community is responding to all that is going on in our world today. There is a quote by William J. Tom’s, Be careful how you live; you will be the only Bible some people ever read.
I don’t know about you, but that quote sure does make me think twice about how I act or react. Now more than ever I need to be living out Colossians 3:17. In all I say or do, I should be doing it as a representative of Christ. How I respond to all that is going on in our country should be God honoring. To think that I may be the only Bible that someone reads, is pretty convicting.
Lord,
Help me to trust that You have already prepared the way for where You are calling me. Forgive me when I measure my success to world views of it. Let Your love be reflected through me this week as I take delight in that work that You have me doing, knowing it pleases You when I live a life that glorifies You. If I am the only Bible that someone reads this week, I ask for wisdom, guidance and the words to speak that will lead them closer to You. Thank You that You are able to use me as a vessel to share Your love. It is in the name of Jesus that I pray these things. Amen.
